Young people

St Matthias are committed to include everyone who gets involved within the life of the church and the young people are no exception.

Although we don’t offer at this stage a Junior Church or Sunday school facilities, we do take the young people very seriously.

The majority of the young people get involved in the life of the church by being encouraged to robe and serve at the altar/s, by singing, leading worship by doing readings, intercessions, socialising, attending mid-week Masses and organising their own events.

Recent events they have arranged (under guidance and in conjunction with the Child Protection laws), day trips to Cambridge, Colchester Zoo, theatre trips, coast trips and visits to farms.

As well as having a good social life, the young people enhance the life of the church with the gifts they have and share. They are all very much valued and are a joy to include and most importantly, as well as having the fun they have, they seek to share the Gospel and to explore their faith and understanding of the Christian belief by self examination and with a willingness to learn.

Under the guidance of Child Protection we cannot put pictures on the web at this stage but hope to in the near future.
