We recently visited the church as we were born in Stoke Newington and got married in this church 50 years ago. We were sad to see the main entrance bricked up and the changes that had taken place. My husband remembered when the church was bombed during the war and the damage to the roof. We also visited the roads of Stoke Newington where we lived and they seem to have changed out of all recognition. It looked a lot smaller where all the flats had been built across the turnings. Then Allen Road was full of shops and now there are just houses in this road. We were very sad to see the way it had all changed but pleased to visit the church on our 50th anniversary year. We would like to thank the kind gentleman who showed us around the church.
